We're moving house this weekend. Again. We have managed to stay in this current house for (just) over a year, which is a bit of a milestone. If nothing else it means I won't have to cough up silly money to Pipex for cancelling the broadband. They refunded it last time because we signed up with them again, but I think this time we'll find someone else cheaper.
This was a little leaflet thing we picked up whilst in Hampshire the other week. I think it's great, and probably would leave it in a nasty smokey pub/restaurant, only I want to hang on to it and put it on the wall. Is that sad?
This is a scary plant. I'm not actually sure what it is, but it's taken up residence in my parents' living room, and I'm sure it was looking at me strangely the other day.
Apparently it falls over occasionally. You don't need a degree in physics to figure out why...
I upgraded my Debian install last week, from Sarge (stable) to Etch (testing).
The main reason for doing this was to keep up-to-date with various bits of software. In theory I could compile it all manually, but that's more work and doesn't always work anyway, as my failed attempt at upgrading KDE a few months ago proved.
Etch uses x.org rather than xfree86, and I'd been having some issues with that involving X exiting as soon as it started up. That was happening far too often (about 1 in 3 attempts), and was getting annoying as I couldn't figure out what was causing it.
So anyway, I did the upgrade. And X.org decided it didn't want to talk to my mouse. A bit of modprobing and reconfiguring later and it's working nicely, albeit without a functioning scroll wheel. I'll fix that at some point though.
