need more friends...

I keep meaning to write about things then forgetting or just generally being too lazy. So here is a list of things I've been thinking about/doing over the last few weeks, in no particular order:

  • Went shopping in Brighton. For the day.
  • Got the car serviced. This cost lots of money. As did the park+ride into town whilst I was waiting, because apparently if you walk to the bus rather than drive it costs £2 rather than £1. Odd.
  • went to Alton Towers
  • Finally figured out what crappy radio station it is that occasionally interferes with Kerrang on my way to work. It's this this (rather southern) one. Eh?
  • Put my Q&A back up. Enjoy :)
  • Did enough fiddling with apache2's <VirtualHost> stuff to get subdomains working on localhost - without breaking anything important!

I could write in more detail about any of those things, but instead I shall write about MySpace.

Today I gave in and signed up there. And you know what - it's really, really rubbish! I knew this anyway, but ewww. It's really not a very user friendly site, and as for their coding.... well.

To disable clickable links [...], put a <Z> anywhere in the box.

Seeing that made me want to hit things. Seriously, wtf?
However, I did spot a few "Sever Error in '/' Application" errors, so that was amusing. Quite used to these from breaking stuff at work, haha ;)

Oops, got distracted. The (only) reason I signed up there is to stalk random people, particularly those who I haven't spoken to in a while. Assuming they don't get scared and block me because I'm a freak anyway!

ooh, bleach...

Katy decides she is not blonde enough and needs some highlights. Katy cannot afford to get them done 'properly', and hates all hairdressers anyway on principle because they're useless chavvy twats.

hmm, let's look back at previous hair colourings shall we?
I had red streaks in the first year of uni, they worked fairly well until they faded and stayed pink for months.
Then I had several failed attempts at going red all over, ending up ginger and then orangy pink.
Then there was the bleach. That worked, but left me with a nice dark halo an inch down my hair. Only for a week though, because then it went red and actually stayed red for a few washes (then went pink for months).
And most recently I had a reddish streak at the front, which probably looked very daft. Actually, who am I kidding - all of my attempts at red hair have looked pretty stupid.

So yes, I've obviously not learnt my lesson, because now I have some very dodgy looking streaks that don't go all the way down and a big bleached blob where it looks like something has crapped on me. Excellent :(
And because it's bleach, I'm stuck with it until it grows out or I give in and bleach the whole lot to be the same colour. meh.

Oh well, maybe it won't look as horrific once it's dry...

Snakes in the Slow Lane

Well, today has been a bit crap.
First off, I overslept. This resulted in a bit of a mad panic so I could leave for work in time. And when I did finally leave the house, I was greeted with this lovely sight:

hay lorry blocking the gate

A massive lorry (two trailery bits) full of hay completely blocking the gate.
No sign of the driver, naturally. No idea what it was doing there, obviously we do kind of live on the farm but you'd think they could have at least driven into the yard rather than 'parking' in the road (not even pulled in!)

So yes, that was irritating. It gets worse though - the second half of my trip to work was at a max speed of 30mph in a huge queue of traffic. I was late :(

Then I spent about an hour this afternoon poking at some code trying to figure out why it would email me but not put the data into the database. Turns out that I wasn't actually executing the sql query. Duuhhhhh.

On a more positive note, we saw Snakes on a Plane last night. It was quite ridiculously pants, but in a very entertaining way.
